Q. Are you going to have a class this May 2020? If so, will it be on campus or online?
A. WUHS is going to have a May 2020 class. We had hoped the May 2020 class would be able to start in person on campus in Belize. However, if that is not possible due to the global health emergency, we will start the May 2020 class virtual via distance learning.
Q. Will virtual distant learning be an option or will we have to go to Belize?
A. We anticipate that WUHS students will be able to begin the MAY 2020 term on time. The safety and well-being of our community is our top priority. We are prepared to commence the term online through the WUHS Online Platform until we can return to our campus. When we resume classes in Belize, we will discontinue online learning.
Q. Will class size be affected due to COVID-19 Disruptions?
A. WUHS remains committed to our student’s success and to providing the highest quality education and a rich array of supportive services. We do not anticipate any changes to the class sizes for the May 2020 term as a result of the COVID-19 disruptions.

Q. Are newly accepted student welcome sessions still scheduled?
A. Yes! We will be holding a variety of virtual Welcome Sessions for newly accepted students. These information sessions will answer your questions, provide valuable information regarding the transition to campus, and connect you with other newly accepted students. You will receive an invitation soon to select a day and time that is most convenient for you.
Q. When can I visit the campus?
A. Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 and resulting travel restrictions, the Dean’s Invite and other campus visit programs have been canceled until further notice. We will notify you as soon as we are able to reschedule.
Q. What should I do about completing my required deposits?
A. We understand that deciding where to go to medical school is a very important choice. We have many resources and virtual options for you, during this time, including opportunities to speak to current students, graduates, as well as our new virtual tour.
Q. Should I go and submit my tuition deposits?
A. Yes. Your deposit secures your seat in our May class. If your plans change, we can apply your deposit to a future term.
Q. Will remote learning lower tuition fees?
A. The use of remote learning is a temporary measure to address the unprecedented health emergency. As soon as it is safe to do so, we look forward to resuming in-person education.
Q. As an accepted student who has not already made a deposit yet, may I push back my deposit due date to see whether or not I will still attend WUHS?
A. As a newly accepted student we understand that you may need additional time before you can make your deposit. We are happy to work with you. Please let us know how we can help.
Q. As a current student of WUHS are my tuition and fees due according to the payment plan I have selected?
A. As a current student of WUHS you will be expected to complete your tuition payments according to the payment plan you have selected.
Q. I am having financial difficulties due to the negative financial impact of COVID-10, may I have my tuition waived or lowered?
A.We understand that you may need additional time to complete your financial obligations to WUHS. We are also happy to work with you on more flexible terms. Please let us know how we can help. However please understand that as an enrolled student of WUHS you will be held accountable for your tuition and fees.
Q. Will there be changes to the current admissions process/requirements policies of WUHS?
A. There are no changes to our admission requirements or standards. Our admissions committee understands that many external examinations have been canceled or postponed during this pandemic. We continue to review applications and if necessary, will issue conditional acceptance offers pending exam results. We are monitoring ongoing changes to the global academic evaluation systems carefully and will update as the situation evolves.
Q. Are admission interviews still occurring? If I attend a virtual interview of admissions will this look worse on my application than an in-person interview?
A. Effective March 19th, all admission interviews will be conducted virtually until further notice. Please be assured that your candidacy will in no way be negatively impacted by a virtual interview. We look forward to speaking with you!
Q. If my undergraduate program has switched to virtual learning will this have a negative impact on my admissions application to WUHS?
A. We understand that the disruptions caused by the coronavirus may have changed the course of your education. Please be assured that your candidacy will not be negatively impacted by the fact that your labs/lectures were conducted virtually.
Q. As an international applicant, I am not able to sit for the IELTS/TOEFEL examinations, will WUHS accept another substitute examination?
A. We continue to monitor the changes and the availability of external test administrations, including but not limited to IELTS/TOEFL examinations. WUHS is prepared to offer conditional acceptances and to exercise reasonable flexibility in making admissions decisions. Please check back here for updates.
Q. What measures are being taken on campus to maintain the campus as clean and sterile?
In response to COVID-19, WUHS has limited campus access to essential personnel only. As we reduce non-essential operations on campus, we have sanitized and locked down areas that are no longer being used. We are reinforcing social distancing and hand sanitation.
